Background on Piano Romance CD
Piano Romance: “...74 minutes of fresh, tender and passionate expressions on the piano from the heart ...”
Track 1. Conversations: I recorded this track in Ab while I was staying with good friends of ours Ric & Jilly in Cairns on their piano. It was just one of those moments were the atmosphere was quiet and it was a little bit like having a simple uninterrupted conversation. I’d like to dedicate this song to Ric and Jilly and the ongoing friendship we enjoy.
Track 2. Contemplation: This song automatically followed straight on from ‘Conversations’ and I wanted to take it a little deeper, slower and even a more meditative feel. I hope this music really helps you regather your thoughts as you contemplate the ‘purpose of all you do’.
Track 3. Committed: A change of keys to Eb, recorded in the same session. This songs speaks of my everlasting commitment to my wonderful spouse and friend; Desma. This one’s for you Desma.
Track 4. Friscone: I wrote this song in Gm while in Cleveland Ohio when staying with good friends Joe & Laura on their beautiful grand piano just before we were due to leave; a moment of respite before we were off to the next city while on yet another world tour.
Track 5. Still Waters: Recorded back at my studio in Sydney, in Bb, we all need to find the still waters in our busy lives and take time to restore the soul. I pray that you feel restored by this song. I want to dedicate this song our beautiful lifelong friends; Ken & Sue.
Track 6. Consolation: Another change of keys to Gb; At some time or another we all need to be consoled, life has a way of throwing some interesting curve balls at us... I want to dedicate this song to Melody & Dave and their recovery after the recent lost of their child, who you will see again!
Track 7. Somewhat Lonely: Recorded in my Sydney studio in Db, after Desma and I had been chatting about how lonely she feels many times while I’m away touring and ministering for weeks at a time. The loneliness is depicted by the single notes and then of course the loneliness leaves as the notes regather again. Thankfully its not all bad, we have the flexibility to be able to spend more quality time together when I’m home...
Track 8. Ash’s Choice: Ashleigh has always enjoyed my piano playing and would always come and sit in the lounge while I played and this song in Bb was always her favourite and she could always imagine walking down the aisle on her wedding day to this song.
Track 9. Onward: Recorded in my studio in Dm, this song allures you into the sense and need to press on, no matter how difficult things might seem... I’d like to dedicate this track to my new friends Brian & Tammy Smith and their band HisNameHigh’; let’s move onward together...
Track 10. Possible Dreams: Another favourite song of Ash’s from Refreshment in Cm. We just need to start believing that our dreams are really possible!
